This Mala is primarily made with 6mm Black Tourmaline beads along with 6mm Amethyst accents.

Black Tourmaline is a protective stone which repels and blocks negative energies and psychic attack. Black Tourmaline also aids in the removal of negative energies within a person or a space.

Amethyst is a natural tranquilizer, it relieves stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety. Alleviates sadness and grief, and dissolves negativity.

What is a Mala (Japamala)?

It is simply a string of beads that is used in a meditation practice. It is a tool to help you count mantras or breaths. Malas can be made of many materials — I typically use semiprecious stones which give them durability and a little weight. I hand knot and bless each mala that I make.

Overhand Knotting

A true sign of a traditionally crafted mala, overhand knotting not only makes the mala stronger, it also provides the perfect space for Japa Meditation – a meditation that uses each bead to count a repetition of a mantra.

Why 108 Beads?

108 is a sacred and spiritual number. The number shows up in many ancient wisdom paths. The ancient text that many yogis study is called the Upanishads which has 108 chapters. There are 27 constellations by 4 parts which is 108. The 12 zodiac signs by 9 planets is also 108. It is said that there are 108 energy lines converging to form the Heart Chakra.
